Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies require a Head of SAP EWM & Supply Chain Systems to be based at our head office in Midrand. The purpose of the role is to design and implement SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) solutions, ensuring seamless integration with SAP S/4HANA, Fiori, and related supply chain platforms. The role balances strategic architecture with hands-on support, leading the supply chain support function to resolve issues, deliver enhancements, and respond to business needs efficiently. By combining forward-looking design with reliable daily delivery, this position ensures smooth warehouse and logistics operations, safeguards business continuity, and drives continuous improvement across the Supply Chain.
Minimum Requirements…
Essential:
- Grade 12 - Matric or Senior Certificate.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in Supply Chain environment, with Warehousing and Distribution experience.
- Experience with SAP, EWM or other ERP systems.
- People and Project Management experience.
Advantage:
- Previously employed at a General Manager or Senior management level
- Post Graduate degree.
Job Specification…
- Lead SAP EWM architecture, integration with SAP S/4HANA and supply chain systems.
- Oversee deployment of Fiori apps, ensure solution governance and documentation.
Operational Support & Service Management:
- Act as escalation point for EWM/supply chain system issues.
- Lead support team (L1–L3), manage incidents, service requests, and user training.
- Safeguard system availability and performance.
Process Optimisation & Business Partnership:
- Translate business requirements into scalable warehouse/logistics solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement (inventory accuracy, productivity, cost-to-serve).
- Align with supply chain KPIs and collaborate with leadership.
Data Governance & Compliance
- Own article/material master data across SAP landscapes.
- Enforce data standards, quality, and audit compliance.
- Support transformation projects, migration, and regulatory alignment.
Leadership & Innovation
- Manage hybrid team (architects, consultants, analysts).
- Build stakeholder partnerships across distribution centres, procurement, finance, people & culture, IT.
- Champion emerging technologies (AI, automation, robotics) and digital transformation initiatives.
General:
- Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations.
Competencies
Essential:
- In-depth understanding of SAP EWM, Supply Chain processes, data governance, and system design.
- Analytical thinking for troubleshooting, solution design, and process optimization.
- Quick resolution of system issues and proactive enhancement planning.
- Understanding of Supply Chain KPIs, cost-to-serve metrics, and financial linkages (e.g., working capital, pricing).
- Translates highly technical EWM solution designs into clear, business-friendly language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaboration across IT, operations, vendors, and the business.
- Ability to design scalable, sustainable solutions aligned with business goals.
- Ensures all SAP EWM configurations and enhancements follow best practices and undergo rigorous testing, minimizing defects in production.
- Manages multiple high-priority incidents and project deliverables in parallel by effectively prioritizing tasks. Demonstrates ownership by proactively seeking solutions.
- Guides the team in resolving complex warehouse automation challenges and motivates stakeholders to adopt optimized processes while ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Ability to lead and develop experienced professionals, drive cross-functional alignment, and deliver both strategic transformation and operational continuity across the Supply Chain.
- SAP architecture, integration, configuration, and performance tuning.
