Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Social Media Specialist to achieve superior customer engagement through content and drive website traffic and revenue by executing all aspects of the social media marketing roadmap. Provide on-going growth of the company’s social media presence in line with the marketing strategy.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 – Matric or a Senior Certificate.
  • Marketing Degree, Journalist Certification, PR Certification. 
  • Minimum of 2- 3 years’ experience working in a similar capacity in either an agency or corporate setting.

 

Job Description 

Social Media:
  • Develop and maintain the social media business presence across various targeted social media channels.
  • Provide on-going oversight and coordination of all aspects regarding social interfaces such as content, broadsheets, analysis, new ideas (contests, promos, online/social exclusives etc.), tactical campaigns, lead generation and content syndication methods. 
  • Mine insights from social campaigns to continually find ways to improve on those metrics through
    testing and implementation of new innovative initiatives.
  • Conduct continuous research and identify best practice social media trends on the latest and tools
  • Implementing content across owned and earned social channels that include tweets, status updates, pins, photos, and videos. 
  • Drive the implementation of the approved strategy and the execution of the ideas approved concepts. 
  • Support event awareness on the relevant social media channels. 
  • Keep abreast of all changes on all social platforms to ensure maximum effectiveness. 
  • Provide suggestions on new ways to attract prospective customers through engagement, promotions,
    and competitions. 
  • Ensure that social media campaigns are executed parallel to the marketing calendar. 
  • Plan and execute social media programs and campaigns that span owned (e.g., Instagram)
Sourcing:
  • Source content from key stakeholders (i.e., Dis-Chem Foundation, Clinic, Dispensary, Brand services and magazines)
  • Explore new ways to engage and identify new social networks to reach our target buyers
Traffic optimization:
  • Increase/optimize traffic to the Online and offline from all social media channels.
  • Track and monitor the effectiveness and success of campaigns, in order to calculate a ROI.
  • Develop an optimal posting schedule taking into consideration web traffic and customer engagement metrics.
Stakeholder Liaison:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop marketing and communications plans that leverage the social media space.
  • Ensure social media platforms continuously runs efficiently by responding to all directed queries timeously.
Administration:
  • Assist in planning, organizing, educating, and executing social media events within the business.
  • Ensure maintenance and updating of content for social media campaigns
  • Ensure consistency in Brand Voice and alignment with the strategic direction.
  • Monitor internet for brand related topics of conversation.
General:
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations.

  • Knowledge - Knowledge of business services and product range. Working knowledge and real-world experience in planning and executing social media initiatives. Knowledge of social media legal guidelines.
  • Cognitive Skills - The process of finding solutions to potential issues as well as knowing when to escalate the problem and what level to escalate it to.
  • Business Acumen - Comprehending fundamental arithmetic’s like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Communication Skills - Grasps the meaning of information written in English. Conveys ideas and facts in writing using language the reader will best understand.
  • Interpersonal skills - Builds constructive working relationships characterised by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.
  • Quality Orientation - Recognises the need for procedures and follows relevant procedures.
  • Self-Management Skills - Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieves results with little oversight. Sticks to commitments.
  • Technical skills - Computer Skills – Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Adobe Creative Suite software CS5 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) Advantage: Operating on Mac Platform
