Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ Warehouse in Gqeberha DC has an opportunity available for DC Checkers to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence, within the Dis-Chem Distribution Centre. Perform a checking function in the outbound checking area, in order to meet both legal and customer requirements.

 

Minimum Requirements…
Essential:

  • Grade 12 - Matric or Senior Certificate

 

Advantageous:

  • Experience in a distribution centre

Job Specification…

  • Ensure that a high standard of accuracy is maintained during checking of picked orders.
  • Ensure that all picked stock is scanned to verify order against required quantity, batch and expiry date.
  • Ensure that stock is packed in a manner that will prevent cross-contamination and damages during transport to stores
  • Ensure that once checked that: Either the pack-slip is included in the box or label with the description of goods in the Stock box or tote
  • Ensure that all goods when packed for dispatch to stores are labelled with labels required. (Use the store name/ invoice number and number of boxes)
  • Do not allow stock to be removed from the warehouse, without proper documentation or the approval of the supervisor or manager/pharmacist
  • Meet set targets set by management with emphasis on accuracy
  • Report and record, on all errors made by pickers, to supervisors or management
  • Report on the damage or malfunction of all checking equipment
  • Confer with supervisors or management regularly regarding stock errors and damages
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations



Competencies
Essential:

  • Knowledge of Distribution Centre, logistics and supply chain operations. Have knowledge of the business measures and targets,directly related to own role
  • English –Read, write and speak. Be able to communicate proactively in order to build co-operative relationships with internal customers
  • Trustworthy
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the business measures and targets directly relating to own role
  • Time management, deadline driven and attention to detail

 

Special conditions of employment:

  • South African Citizen
  • MIE, clear criminal and credit
  • Driver’s license and/or own reliable transport
  • Be able to adapt to working hours according to business needs
  • Be able to work any shift i.e. day, night, weekends, holidays and overtime as per business and operational requirements
  • Must be willing to be rotated to where needed and must be willing to perform any other functions within the department, should the need arise
  • Physical demands include walking and standing, climbing, kneeling, push and pull objects, lift and move objects, repetitive bending
