Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies CJM require a DTP Designer at our CJ Marketing in Midrand/Delmas You will be required to design Point of Sale creative and ensure DTP standards are adhered to. Deliver end to end creative designs such as promotions and other marketing requirements and ensure that texts, images, and illustration elements meet the standards for print production. Translate artwork into digital files suitable for printing.Facilitate the process of deliverables for print production on a variety of large format and digital press
machinery for various stakeholders in line with the CJ Marketing quality standards.

Minimum Requirements…

Essential:

  • Grade 12 – Matric, and a Qualification in Graphic Design or DTP.
  • Minimum 2 -3 years’ experience working as a Desk Top Publisher (DTP) or Point of Sale (POS) Graphics Designer.

 
Job Specification…

Print Production Control:

  • Review and provide input to print submissions to ensure that the content is aligned to the printing
    standards (color, spelling, grammar etc.).
  • • Review and provide input to layout orientations an ensure alignment to the specifications.

  • Attend to and mitigate risks that are identified and/or raised by stakeholders that may influence the timely execution of deliverables.
  • Engage with and inform the relevant stakeholders about any risks that may influence the timely execution of deliverables (operational delays, equipment failure etc.).
  • Review page proofs to eliminate errors and ensure the final design meet the required
    specifications of the CJ Marketing CI.
  • Assemble file for print an ensure that existing design layouts are oriented into various layout
    orientation.
  • Liaise with Graphic Studio Manager and Marketing & Brand Manager to implement new
    techniques and processes to streamline production.
  • Collaborate and advise design team on requirements of artworks exporting I terms of layouts and
    imposition on prepress process.
  • Maintain administrative charts and spreadsheets for progress reports and billing purposes.

Stock Control:
  • Ensure all media resourcing material (vinyl, posters etc.) are available for operations and obtain
    approval to procure the relevant material when necessary.
  • Continuously monitor design software licensing for operations and ensure approval is obtained before
    procuring.
  • Monitor the performance and damages of equipment such as printing machines etc. and obtain
    approval for replacement.

Stakeholder Relationship & Communication:

  • Build and maintain positive communication between the design team and production vendors.
  •  Address store and HO queries and follow-up on and implement actions to address such queries.
  • Conduct follow up with DC team regarding the tracking of print jobs to approved locations.

Team Management:
    • Take full responsibility of all direct reports, motivating and managing them in relation to quality
      standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives, focusing on all aspects of sound people
      management to ensure optimal performance.
    • Monitor team effectiveness and make relevant changes to improve team performance.
    • Drive employee engagement by transferring knowledge to Print Production Officer and design team by
      providing necessary production elements and information from production vendors.
    • Identify training needs within the team and collaborate with the Learning & Development department
      to identify appropriate training.
