Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ in Midrand has an opportunity available for a Human Resource Business Partner to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to deliver integrated, value-adding People & Culture partnership across the assigned function (s). Provides management and employee support, drives people initiatives, and ensures operational P&C delivery that aligns with business priorities. The individual is a trusted advisor to line management, enabling a high-performance culture, supporting workforce readiness, and embedding Dis-Chem's people strategy and culture framework (Formula for Success).

Minimum Requirements

Essential:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology
  • 4 - 6 years HR generalist or HRBP experience, preferably in retail, logistics, or healthcare settings
  • Exposure to transformation, skills development, and equity legislation (EE, BBBEE,SD)
  • Strong working knowledge of SA labour legislation and HR compliance practices
Advantageous:
  • Honours Degree in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems (e.g.,SAP, Oracle, SuccessFactors)


Roles & Responsibilities

Business Partnering & Advisory:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to service functions and managers by advising on P&C solutions aligned with healthcare objectives.
  • Translate business needs into people plans that support operational delivery, compliance, and workforce optimisation.
  • Provide day-to-day support on performance, conduct, talent movement, and general P&C advisor.

Employee Relations & Compliance:

  • Ensure consistent application of Dis-Chem’s policies and labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, POPIA).
  • Manage disciplinary, grievance, and counselling matters in collaboration with the central ER function.
  • Support and coach line managers in managing fair and constructive employee relations.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to forecast, plan, and fulfil staffing needs for various working structures and schedules.
  • Support hiring decisions aligned to business needs, skills pipelines, and employment equity goals.
  • Ensure seamless onboarding and cultural integration of new hires.

Performance & Capability Management:

  • Facilitate performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and improvement plans.
  • Coach line managers on performance conversations, development plans, and retention strategies.
  • Identify high-potential talent and feed into succession planning initiatives.

Learning & Development Support:

  • Partner with L&D to ensure team members attend required functional, technical, compliance, professional, or leadership training.
  • Support learning pathways for employees and management teams.

Culture, Transformation & Engagement:

  • Embed the “Formula for Success” by facilitating awareness sessions, role modelling desired behaviours, and reinforcing culture drivers.
  • Support Transformation and EE initiatives at site level, including monitoring of targets and representation metrics.
  • Drive employee engagement through feedback mechanisms (surveys, forums) and localised interventions.

Workforce Planning & P&C Operations:

  • Support functional workforce planning (scheduling, headcount tracking, leave trends).
  • Ensure accurate people process administration (contracts, terminations, transfers) and employee lifecycle data integrity.
  • Leverage people analytics to provide insights on turnover, absenteeism, and productivity to business leaders.
