Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ in KZN DC (New Germany) has an opportunity available for a DC Night Shift Manager to join the team.The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Distribution Centres,by performing a management function through directing and coordinating the operation of the Distribution Centre. This includes overseeing of the Inbound, Dispatch inventory daily planning and releasing of waves maintenance of the order system, emergency orders, replenishment, picking, checking and Invoicing in some case, of stock purchased from the DC in order to meet both legal and Store /Customer requirements.


Minimum Requirements…
Essential:

  • Grade 12 - Matric or Senior Certificate and relevant Degree/Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum 5 Years relevant experience in Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain Environment

 

Advantageous:

  • Relevant experience in the field of Logistics/Supply Chain Management
  • Experience in the Retail/Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Experience with SAP, EWM or other ERP systems

Job Specification…

  • Optimal planning and forecasting of department resources to meet the daily strategic objective defined by the quantity of orders in the system.
  • Plan and implement procedures and systems to maximise operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure that customer orders and jabs are managed daily and that wave item clearing is maintained with no orders in excess of 48 hours.
  • Ensure that the system is monitored, cleaned up by using the management tools, on SAP EWM.
  • Ensuring that all replenishments are done and that manual replenishments are executed for Jabs and large orders.
  • Analyse picking data and take corrective action via their responsible supervisor/ Manager.
  • Ensure that picking supervisor’s sign off discrepancies and that picking aisles are neat and product integrity is maintained.
  • Ensure that enough totes / bins and boxes are available at all times as per operational requirements.
  • Ensure that resources and queues are monitored and optimised as per operational requirements.
  • Ensure that checking staff maintain a high standard of accuracy during the checking process.
  • Ensure that all stock leaving area is scanned and all discrepancies are resolved.
  • Ensure that all goods when packed in a manner that will prevent cross-contamination and damages.
  • Analyse the checking data and take corrective action via their responsible supervisor/ Manager.
  • Ensure the order verifying processes are followed and corrective is taken.
  • Ensure performance management is done and maintained.
  • Manage team leave and absence.
  • Responsible for the succession planning of subordinates.
  • Management and adherence to GWP, SHE program and OHS act.
  • Efficient and accurate administration, filling and reporting for transactional excellence.
  • Ensure department’s consumable needs are met.
  • Effective and efficient resolution and communication of internal and external customer day-to-day queries.
  • Proactively identify cost saving opportunities with expert insight into to true improvements and their ability to be effectively implemented.

 

 

Competencies
Essential:

  • Knowledge of Management Systems, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Emergency process, Public Safety and Security,Customer Service, Transportation Principles and Methods, Production and Processing, Material Handling Standards, Administration and Management, Supply Chain and Personnel and Human Resources Management. Have knowledge of the business measures and targets,
    directly related to own role.
  • English –Read, write and speak.
  • Basic Financial Skills.
  • Be able to read and analyse financial reports.
  • Time management, deadline driven and attention to detail. Demonstrates personal initiative. Development of self and subordinates.
  • Be able to lead motivate and inspire others.
