Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ in Longmeadow has an opportunity available for a DC Dispatch Controller (Night Shift) to join the team. 

Experience & Qualification:
Essential:
  • Matric – With English and Mathematics
  • Computer Literacy

Advantage:
  • Previous work experience in Retail/Warehouse
  • Tertiary Qualification related to Logistics or Warehousing
  • Microsoft Office Excel training or experience

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure optimal route and space planning to meet the day-to-day strategic objectives.
  • Ensure to understand and execute the planning process involved when stock leaves the distribution center.
  • Ensure routing of vehicles to ensure optimum utilisation and vehicle turnaround times.
  • Ensure all deliveries picked the previous day, are delivered the next day to local stores and within 48 hours to
  • Coastal stores.
  • Load trucks as per standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure admin and daily checking of all delivery log sheets takes place, to facilitate queries and credit note
  • requests.
  • Ensure all relevant clerical functions in the department are performed in an effective and efficient manner
  • according to standard operating procedures.
  • Manage the process flow within the Dispatch department and applying the FIFO principle to aged stock for
  • processing, as per Dis-Chem standard and operational requirements.
  • Adhere to and deliver against shift specific targets with a high level of accuracy.
  • Prevent and act on security or risk issues and ensure that risks are dealt with.

Competencies/skills required:
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of all the various functions, within the department.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, of relevant computer packages.
  • Be personally fully aware of and ensure that all employees following the departmental STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES.
  • Demonstrates an understanding, of the business measures and targets directly relating to own role.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of consequential impacts of decisions made. – i.e. Good judgment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify operational obstacles and opportunities and refer to warehouse management.
  • Able to work flexible hours and good time management.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
